Martín Hurtado nació en Santiago el 23 de enero de 1965. La firma de arquitectos Martín Hurtado Arquitectos se estableció en Santiago de Chile en 1993. Su enfoque se basa en la premisa de que la forma es una consecuencia, no un objetivo.
Los proyectos se fundamentan en una estructura profunda que ayuda a organizar el edificio y su programa. Esto constituye una secuencia de trabajo razonable y apropiada, coherente entre lo que un edificio «quiere ser» (citando a L.Kahn) y la elección de los materiales con los que se construirá.
Los proyectos han sido publicados y distinguidos a nivel mundial en varias revistas y bienales de arquitectura. Entre las publicaciones recientes se incluyen la revista ARQ, la Bienal de Lisboa (BIAU), la Bienal de Arquitectura Chilena, la Revista ESCALA, 30 años de Arquitectura Chilena, entre otros.
Experiencia Profesional y Educación Anterior
Martín Hurtado Covarrubias, jefe de la oficina, se tituló como Arquitecto en la Universidad Católica de Chile en 1989. Ha estado enseñando talleres de arquitectura desde 1990; fue profesor principal de proyectos de tesis en la misma escuela desde 1999 hasta 2001; profesor principal de proyectos de tesis desde 2001 hasta 2007 en la Universidad Andrés Bello; profesor principal de taller de Arquitectura (materia principal) desde 2006 en la Universidad Finis Terrae; profesor principal de taller de Arquitectura Internacional en la UBA (Universidad de Buenos Aires) desde 2008.
Trabajó en la oficina de arquitectura de Enrique Browne y Borja Huidobro desde 1990 hasta 1993.
Ha estado trabajando de forma independiente desde 1993.
Se ha especializado en madera, con más de 150 proyectos construidos en diferentes áreas que incluyen viviendas, industria, equipamiento, religioso, cultural, edificios de oficinas, desarrollos urbanos, escuelas, entre otros.
Fue director nacional de la Competencia de Arquitectura en Madera CORMA durante cuatro años.

Previous Professional Experience and Education
Martin Hurtado Covarrubias, head of the office, received his degree in Architecture from the Catholic University of Chile in 1989. He has been teaching architecture studios since 1990; Lead teacher of thesis projects at the same school from 1999 to 2001; Lead teacher of thesis projects from 2001 to 2007 at Andres Bello University; Lead teacher of Architecture workshop (main subject) since 2006 at Finis Terrae University; Lead teacher of International Architecture workshop at UBA (University of Buenos Aires), since 2008.
He worked at Enrique Browne and Borja Huidobro’s architecture office from 1990 to 1993.
He has been working independently since 1993.
He has specialized in wood, with more than 150 built projects in different areas that include housing, industry, equipment, religious, culture, office buildings, urban developments, schools, among others.
He was the national director of the Wood Architecture Competition CORMA for four years.
